San Isidro A tiny village on the Dolores River in Eastern Sammar, The Philippines. The pastor's name is Fele Kooistra. Fele had a beautiful home and was in gainful employment in Western Australia when a word came from the Lord to sell up and return to the village of her birth, In obedience she did so and went back to San Isidro. There she purchased a moderate two storied house and converted the bottom storey into a church. She began preaching the Gospel, and soon had so many converts that the room was not big enough to accommodate the now thriving church. Fele visited Australia regularly and managed to raise some funds through speaking engagements and fund raising events. During one of her visits she met with Pastor Brian and arranged for him to visit her in San Isidro. With a colleague, Brian visited her village and conducted a seminar. Meanwhile, from the funds she raised in Australia, Fele purchased a block of land adjacent to her home/church and laid a concrete pad for a new church and started to put up the walls. However the money ran out and the uncompleted church stayed there and that was the situation that Brian found on his arrival. Struck by the efforts that Fele and her small band of leaders had placed in the new project, Brian determined to raise the funds necessary to complete the church. On his return to Australia, he immediately sought the generosity of God's people and soon sufficient funds were raised to complete the work started by Fele. News came at last that the project was completed and Brian returned to San Isidro to dedicate the new church and install the leadership. The church is now a flourishing work and Pastor Fele are evangelising in the many other villages on the Dolores River. There are no roads to San Isidro and the other villages, so all communication is by boat. Fele has purchased a second-hand vessel for the church, but this is almost worn out and is unreliable. The village has no electricity supply, but the church obtained a used generator which also is suffering from the ravages of time. Funds are needed to purchase a new boat and generator, and if you are moved to contribute towards this project, you may do so by ... ... Please Click Here |
