But this ingredient was devoid of any nutrients, so those who ate the loaves starved. Also, there is a plant in Australia, called the nardoo plant and the spores of this clover fern can be made into bread and porridge. But they contain no nutrients, carbohydrates, or vitamins – the essentials for sustaining life. Those who depend upon it for food will have their stomachs filled, but they’ll eventually die. Paul wrote to Timothy and said……... “If you instruct the brethren … you will be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished in the words of faith “….......... [1 Timothy 4:6] We can digest amounts of food that will just fill our stomachs, but will not give us any nourishment. The same applies to much of what we read and see in the media and if we are not selective in our listening. We can have our minds full, but our souls will not be nourished. After so many years in the ministry and after being disappointed at the “falling away” of many professing Christians, we began to be burdened and convicted that churches were not necessarily making disciples [Matt 28:19]. At that point the direction of our ministry changed and we responded to our gifting of teaching. Our one desire is to feed hungry souls and to see Kingdom growth. |
